Sewage treatment plant

Sewage treatment plant is the process of treating the sewage water. The Sewage treatment plant comprises Preliminary, Primary, Secondary and Tertiary stages. In the Preliminary and Primary stage of STP process removes solids (floating), oil and grease.

Why? Because the solids particles can damage the equipment’s and active bacteria. The organic load BOD and COD gets reduced by aeration together with bacteria.

Why BOD and COD treated? These two factor creates oxygen demand in water, its not suitable for living organism in the globe.

Trickling filters comprise an enclosed tank together with a bed of bricks. The bed is provide space for active bacteria to live, just like home for us. So this can increase the living bacteria numbers in the aeration tank. Therefore it is the heart of the Sewage treatment plant

Tertiary stage in Sewage Treatment Plant(STP) is used to disinfection, filtration, odor and color removal. Another important factor is. We have to consider in sewage treatment plant are sludge handling and odor .

The sludge production is high in sewage treatment plant. We can generate bio gas from sludge because sludge production is high.

Odor also controlled by installing odor control unit in STP.

Importance of STP

The main importance of stp is we can conserve the ground water by reuse or recycle of sewage water. Since the water scarcity is more because of the huge population. Therefore now a days the STP became statutory requirement for all the Central Pollution control Board.

Construction of ETP is big task and operation and maintenance is most important task.O & M is termed as important for having long life plants. Comprehensive maintenance includes all consumables for Operation & Maintenance. Since water scarcity is the major problem.we need to save water by recycling by stp for the future life.
